The Arkansas Vein Clinic and Skin Care team is led by Dr. Norma Basinger, a licensed physician, board-certified member of the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology since 1996, and Arkansas’ first diplomate of the American Board of Phlebology. Our highly-trained staff includes licensed nurses and 3 licensed sonographers, specially trained to assist our patients with education, evaluation, and treatment.
Dr. Norma Basinger, MD, RPHS
Dr. Basinger received her medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia, South Carolina. She completed her residency at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in 1993. Dr. Basinger is an established physician and has been in private practice since 1993, practicing in gynecology and obstetrics since 1998. In 2004 Dr. Basinger expanded her practice to include the treatment of varicose veins. In 2009 she became the first Diplomat of the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine in the state of Arkansas. In 2011 Dr. Basinger refocused her practice to the treatment of vein disorders, chronic venous ulcers, and aesthetic treatments. Dr.Basinger and her licensed ultrasound staff are IAC accredited for peripheral venous studies.
Janet Newman, RN
Janet Newman is a Fort Smith native. She is a graduate of the Westark Nursing Program, and has been a practicing registered nurse for over 20 years. Janet has been working with Dr. Basinger since 2003, initially focusing primarily on the treatment of spider veins. Since 2011 Janet has been an Aesthetic Nurse Injector, after being personally mentored by Therese Jenkins, PA, an expert in facial rejuvenation using fillers, Botox®, photofacials, peels, and laser hair removal. Janet is also an artist, specializing in portraits, which has proven beneficial when working with facial fillers and Botox. Janet continues to further her skills with personal, hands-on training with fillers and neurotoxins biannually.

Therese Jenkins, PA
Therese Jenkins was born in Fort Smith in 1961. She attended the University of Arkansas and graduated as a Physician Assistant from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in 1985. For 25 years, Therese has been a physician assistant, working from 1985 until 1988 in Fort Smith in the field of orthopedics. From 1988 to 1992, she worked in women’s health in Anchorage, Alaska. When she returned to Fort Smith in 1993, she joined Eastside Ob/Gyn. Licensed by the Arkansas State Medical Board to perform injectable treatments, Therese has performed over 1,500 Botox injections. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
